Twenty Years of Shaping a Nanyang Design Language

IMG_5332.JPG

Drawing from a wide range of cultural references — from Peranakan architecture and Chinese decorative arts to batik traditions, embroidery techniques, porcelain motifs, and everyday life in the tropics — the exhibition offers a glimpse into the research, experimentation, and craftsmanship behind the collections. More than a retrospective of garments, it reveals an ongoing inquiry into identity, heritage, and how culture may be translated and worked with different cultures into a form that remains relevant today.

Since 2006, Fuchsia Lane has sought to create clothing that is rooted in where we are, rather than borrowed from elsewhere. Through sketches, archival materials, textile studies, and selected works from across twenty years, The Poetry of Form reflects the evolution of that journey and the continuing development of Nanyang Fashion as a living and contemporary design language.

Exhibition Ends 30 June 2026

To mark our 20th anniversary, we are reopening a highly limited selection of archive designs.

Chosen from two decades of work, these enduring pieces have been carefully revisited in new fabrics for a short period. Many have been unavailable for years and will be offered only in very limited quantities.
