Inspired by the wedding kua once worn across generations in Southeast Asia, The Rising Phoenix Jacket reinterprets a deeply symbolic form through a contemporary lens. Long cherished in Peranakan culture, the phoenix is a symbol of virtue, prosperity, and renewal — motifs traditionally reserved for ceremonial moments.
 
Here, these richly embroidered phoenixes are juxtaposed with a modern zip-front construction and a clean, cropped silhouette, shifting the language of tradition into the present. The result is a piece that bridges reverence and relevance, ceremony and everyday life.
 
Rooted in our ongoing exploration of Nanyang fashion — a design language shaped by migration, hybridity, and lived cultural experience — this jacket reflects our belief that heritage must evolve to remain meaningful. Not preserved behind glass, but worn with intention.
